Storytelling

Curtis storytelling at The Wren's Nest by Michael CogliantryStorytelling Saturdays at 1 pm

The Wren's Nest offers storytelling on Saturdays at 1 pm and by appointment throughout the week.

If the phrase "by appointment throughout the week" appeals to you, read on and then let us know!

Book a Storyteller at the Wren's Nest!

If you want a storyteller for your group at the Wren's Nest here's how it'll go down:

Send a $75 deposit to the Wren's Nest at least three weeks before your scheduled tour. The $75 will be deducted from your group's admission fees when you arrive.

We cannot reserve a storyteller until we receive the deposit. We've been burned too many times! Ouch!

Admission for groups with a storyteller, as of January 1, 2010

  • $6 for children
  • $8 for seniors and students
  • $9 for adults

Make your check out to "The Wren's Nest" and send it to:

1050 Ralph David Abernathy Blvd. SW
Atlanta, GA 30310

Please include your group name and the date of your tour on the "Memo" line of your check. We like guesswork, but we're not good at it. At all.

*If you have a group of 15 or more, you'll receive your full deposit back. 10 - 14 people: you'll receive $50 back. 5 - 9 people: $25 back. Less than 4 people: sorry, bub.

Book a Storyteller for Your Location!

If you want a storyteller for your group away from the Wren's Nest:

Shoot an email to [email protected] with the date, time, and location of your event. Feel free to have a listen to our storytellers and request one. We'll do our best to accommodate.

Here's what it costs for up to an hour of Ramblin':

• Inside the 30310 zipcode: $125
• Inside the perimeter: $175
• Outside the perimeter: $225, plus $1 for each mile between us and the requested location.

For example, Bulloch Hall is in historic Roswell, Ga, which is outside the perimeter and exactly 24.5 miles from the Wren's Nest. If Bulloch Hall requested a Rambler, their price would be $249 because they're outside the perimeter ($225) and 24.5 miles away ($24). We don't know how to round up.

Check Out Our Ramblers

Storytelling is ideal for people between the ages 4 to 104. Adults even enjoy our performances more than the kids do! Watch Akbar perform in HD to get an idea of what you're getting into.

Our storytellers, the Wren's Nest Ramblers, spin yarns here at the Wren's Nest or at your next engagement for your school, office, church, party, happy hour – if there's a tree to stand under, our Ramblers will be there.

If you'd like to have a Rambler at your next event, send an email to [email protected].

Curtis Richardson
         Curtis Richardson

Curtis Richardson knows every story under the sun. Curtis recently finished his degree from the McAfee School of Theology at Mercer University. Wahoo!

We don't have any good audio of Curtis telling stories, but the good people at Georgia Traveler caught him on film last year, starting at about 2:30.

Josie Bailey

Josie Bailey

Josie hails from Griffin, Ga. She is a professional storyteller, and small children just love her.

Mama Koku
         Mama Koku

Mama Koku is the newest addition to the Wren's Nest Ramblers. We met her at the National Black Arts Festival and simply had to ask her to join us.

Koku can tell it, y'all.

Woodie Persons

Woodie Persons

Woodie teaches at Gate City, a private school in West End. Woodie also happens to own the school, but sometimes she drops everything to tell stories at the Wren's Nest. She's spectacular, really.
