Free Tours and Storytelling Courtesy of Phoenix Flies
Phoenix Flies is a great excuse to see the historic sites in Atlanta on the cheap. The good people at the Atlanta Preservation Center graciously organize it every year.
We offered free tours and storytelling for the first two weekends of this month. It was a delight, I tell you what.
Fortunately, Phoenix Flies runs through March 22nd so (a) you can still enjoy these fantastic opportunities to see historic Atlanta and (b) we won't be stuck in the office the whole time. Victory is ours!
Fritz Eichenberg Illustrations of the Uncle Remus Tales
You might not read our blog regularly, and that's fine. I mean, we're silently judging you, but really, it's no big deal. Sometimes you might be missing out though.
In the off chance that you didn't see these deliciously mischievous Brer Rabbit illustrations, go ahead and feast your eyes.
After that, feel free to catch up with the rest of our titillating boring magnificant blog.
Look Fly In Free Brer Wear!
Have you seen our critter t-shirts? Ouch, they are sharp! They're also free. Or $15. Lemme explain:
Read 5 Brer Rabbit stories, complete this form, and turn it in at the Wren's Nest. We'll give you your choice of t-shirt. Want to read 20 stories and collect all 4? That's A-OK too (just not all at once! We gotta pay the bills, after all).
Too cool to read 5 Brer Rabbit stories? Shirts are $15. Don't have any Brer Rabbit stories? Here, let's get you some.
Are you restoring your museum called the Wren's Nest?
No? I don't blame you. It costs a lot of money to look this handsome.
Feel free to follow the progress of our $190,000 conservation project from the planning stages (March 2008) to the fancy-pants architectural photos (December 2009).
The before and after pictures are pretty remarkable. Go ahead and check 'em out. I'll wait.
Atlanta Magazine Features the Wren's Nest
Find us in the October issue of Atlanta Magazine! We're in between the angry letters about the Real Housewives of Atlanta and a feature about the director of the CDC.
Or, be our guest and check out the article online.
The print edition has a few more photos by Jamey Guy (awesome dude).
Pick Up Your Copy of Wayfarer's Diary
Every summer the Wren's Nest hosts 8 or so brilliant high school editors who create an amazing literary journal.
This year the students released Wayfarer's Diary, at the Decatur Book Festival. We had a great time without you. Check out the pictures if you don't believe me.
The editors compiled submissions from their fellow high school students and learned the ropes from professionals all summer.
Limited Editions of Wayfarer's Diary are on sale for a mere $5. Pick up your copy here. We think you'll love it. Plus, the proceeds will ensure that we can put together the best damn high school publishing program in Atlanta again next year.
