The West Zen: Crossover Movement Arts & Art on the BeltLine
Crossover Movement Arts will perform "The West Zen" here at the Wren's Nest on October 1st starting at 4:30 pm. Am I exactly sure what's going to happen? No, no I'm not. Here's what I do know:
Akbar Imhotep, one of our storytellers, will join the performance, as will Zentropy, an experimental jazz ensemble. Dance, storytelling, and experimental jazz — I'm not sure if you've seen anything like this before.
The dance performance starts right here in our backyard but will meander on down to the BeltLine, just a few blocks south. You're gonna need your walking shoes.
"The West Zen" is a contribution to Art on the BeltLine. This season's series features more than 66 installations and performances.
We'll offer free tours of the house starting at 4 pm. More information and a full schedule is available courtesy of Crossover.

The Whole Fiasco Launch Party
The Whole Fiasco, the new book from the KIPP Scribes, debuted on Saturday, September 3rd. We had an excellent time, thank you for asking.
Back in the Spring, 23 professional writers and the Wren's Nest staff met 1-on-1 with the 5th and 6th graders at KIPP STRIVE Academy. The students learned to craft an important family story. The Scribes interviewed an adult in their life, identified a great story, and crafted creative nonfiction. All we did was put 'em together for this book.
If you missed the party, don't fret! We saved a few copies for you.
Think you might want to help out next year? Read up on the KIPP Scribes Program. Then, email Lain and be all like, "Sign me up!"
Anne Trubek, author of A Skeptic's Guide to Writers' Houses
The Wren's Nest, the Georgia Center for the Book, and the Southern Literary Trail presented a talk with a talk with esteemed author, professor, and writers' home skeptic Anne Trubek on March 28th. Her book, A Skeptic's Guide to Writers' Houses, debuted last year to significant acclaim.
Do you know what's really strange?
Exactly what we do at the Wren's Nest: preserve a dead author's home. Trubek asks us to think a little bit about what this kind of memorial says about our culture and what it says about literature, if anything.
Every other year the Southern Literary Trail presents a variety of events in March that link historic literary sites in Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi. We'll see you next time in 2013!
"It's Not Me, It's You" with Purge ATL
The good people at the online arts magazine Purge ATL asked us to host a bunch of writers to read original works about broken hearts and breakups.
They said please, so we said, "Sure thing."

• Ben Spivey
• Matt Debenedictus
