Lately I’ve been busy talking with architects and engineers and contractors about fixing up the Wren’s Nest. Sometimes I even know what they’re talking about.
Other times I just kinda nod my head and smile.
To give you an idea of the repairs we’re making, below are the architectural drawings of the basement and main floors complete with instructions.
Here’s the basement–

(Yet another legible version)
These plans don’t include painting, roof repair, or structural repairs. If only it were that simple!

Any timeline on said changes?
We’re getting there, Joe. It depends on a few things, such as the mortar results getting back from the lab and receiving the plans from the structural engineer.
The only thing I love more than new posts, is new posts about historical renovation. You guys are on roll, keep up the good work. Are there ideas/plans to convert the current office back to they way it once was?
Kirk I am looking to get us a visitor’s center that would enable us to get the current office back to the bedroom that it once was. A small donation of one to two million dollars should do it. You ask why the difference in price it is if I get the Chevy or the Caddie. Wait I may need to change that to a Toyota or Lexus.
Blue prints-excellent, one more piece of the upcoming ninja raid falls into place!
David, I totally should have considered potential ninja raids before posting the plans for the house! See, this project really is complicated.
[...] Today I obtained a building permit from the good people down at Atlanta City Hall. I only had to see nine different people to get it! Work on the Wren’s Nest will begin Monday. [...]
