Wren’s Nest Awarded Cash-Money

Written on October 9, 2007 at 8:47 pm, by Lain

So, I’m watching Scrubs on television right now. It’s funny for several reasons, but mostly since it’s one of those highlight shows where they just recycle old material, but they’re simultaneously pointing out just how lame that is.

No offense to Amelia’s last post, but since I feel so bad (well, not really that bad) for forgetting the camera yesterday, and since Amelia has basically recycled that same “news” today, I’d like to present you with some UNBELIEVABLE SEMI-BREAKING NEWS–

The Wren’s Nest has been granted $50,000 for capital improvements to the house.

Whoa.

And as if that wasn’t enough, the grantmaker has challenged the Wren’s Nest–gauntlet style, of course–to raise another $80,000.

You know what happens if and when we raise that $80,000? We get ANOTHER $80,000.

Pretty cool, huh?

I feel better, anyway.

And see? We do more than just blog around here.

So how much time do you get to get the extra 80,000? I’ll totally kick in a 100.00 myself. That is great news and totally kick a$$!

Hey thanks Deb. We’ve got a year to raise the $80K, so before December 1, 2008.

With the $80,000 challenge grant, and a new strategic plan, we can get $ from other foundations – that like to match grants. I’ll be glad to help work on that.

“O” “O” “O”, I am so happy the spirit of Saint Joel ( I declared him a Saint by acclamation at the 2006 Legacy in Literature awards banquet) has guided us. O gosh I did not mean to be so serious.
But this is a an omen of great things to follow.

  8. [...] The article profiles John List, an economics professor who recently studied the relative benefits of matching gifts and challenge grants. And speak of the devil, the Wren’s Nest is in the midst of a challenge grant with a 1:1 match. [...]
