The Wren’s Nest Gone Bonkers

Remember when folks said nobody comes around on Thanksgiving weekend? Well I’ve got news for you, buster. This place is hoppin’. People are parking in the amphitheatre. Can it be sunny and 68 all the time in November?
Remember: Saturday storytelling at 1. Rain or shine every weekend.

Well, Lain! I took you up on your offer of storytelling and sunshine at the Wren’s Nest…and I was NOT disappointed! Tim and I made it just in time to hear Josie spinning Br’er Rabbit and Br’er Fox tales that would have made Mr. Harris smile with joy.
Even though I was educated in the Atlanta Public School System (APS), attended the University of Georgia, graduated from Georgia State University (twice), and now I’m a third grade teacher with APS, Saturday was my FIRST visit to the Wren’s Nest!
As an African-American educator, as far as I am concerned, the Uncle Remis tales have connected me to a small part of my heritage and have inspired me to do more research on the interesting subject of the oral storytelling traditions.
Thanks for the wonderful storytelling weekend and best wishes with your efforts to save the Wren’s Nest!
