Remembering the J.K. Rowling of His Day

Today’s Atlanta Journal-Constitution features an article on Joel Chandler Harris and our Family Reunion.

I’m happy to report that the Family Reunion was a tremendous success, thanks to a lot of folks, but mostly to Volunteer #1 Annette Shakespeare.
We’ll post plenty of our own pictures later in the week when I’m not so sore and cranky. Check out the article and let us know what you think!

Lain, your link goes to the picture instead of the article. I had to navigate the AJC’s web site to find the actual article!

Link fixed, Tim and Deb. Thanks.
Perhaps I should institute a no blogging before coffee policy.
Sounds like a fine time was had by all. I wanted to attend..I planned to attend…I had the best of intentions to attend..and then my bed just had other plans. It was so soft and comfy…sorry..the bed won.
Lain, my husband and I finally made it over to West End this weekend (you know, that long trek from East Point is just too grueling, ha ha) and drove by the Wren’s Nest. We pulled in the drive to take a better look and realized there was a party going on. We quietly backed out, thinking it was a private event (which I guess it was, technically). We will try to make it back when you guys are open! Glad the party went well, and glad things are going well for you guys. Great article in the AJC!
On behalf of the Wren’s Nest staff, this includes Nannie Thompson, and myself Jeri McWilliams, we would like to thank the Harris family for bringing so much joy to all that visit the Wrens Nest House Museum. There’s certainly a lot of history to be shared and Nannie, Jeri, the docents of the Wren’s Nest enjoy sharing this info.
Last Saturday’s family reunion was great. It gave us an opportunity to meet family members we had only heard about. At the reunion we were able to put faces to those names. “CONGRATULATIONS” it was a “HUGE” “SUCCESS”
Hi Jeri! Welcome to the blog.
It’s the first time I’ve seen Jeri on here, but hopefully not the last.
Hey Lain, who is going to play at your next fundraising event? A bluegrass band, perhaps?
Joe, no contracts have been signed, so I can’t say.
And while these folks aren’t going to be playing our fundraising concert, I’d love to have them at another concert at a later date–
