Stick with a straight edge. The arm trick helps, but c'mon, if you can make a properly straight line, why wouldn't you! We only did without because we got dinged marks if we used one (I swear-you lost marks if they thought your lines were too straight). That drawing is better than a lot of my fellow students could manage by the end of the semester.

Just figured you wouldn't lie to poor Amelia!

No, David, instead of taking a drafting class, I simply didn't tell Amelia the whole truth. I didn't use a ruler, but I did use the straight edge of an envelope. Perhaps this also explains my redundant measurements!

From now on I'll take your advice about drawing with my arm and not my hand.

In other words, rest easy, Kirk. Also, I added your name to our dis-list for our newsletter. Anyone else want in? Just shoot me an email: lain@wrensnestonline.com.

Hey, Lain, nice isometric, but you have redundant measurements in there. Did you take a drafting course too? I figured only engineers were made to suffer that much.

And folks, it is possible to draw such straight lines freehand. You have to lift your hand off the paper and use your arm, not your wrist. The more you know!

Here are things I have learned from this post:
1. There is an online survey
2. There is a quarterly e-mail newsletter
3. Lain is very good at drawing straight lines

Here are my reactions to my newfound knowledge
1. Why was I not aware of this "online survey" before. Did I know about it, and then forgot? I like surveys, and would like to take one right now, especially one about the Wrens Nest and its awesome basement and attic.
2. How do I sign up for this quarterly newsletter, that sounds like something I should be receiving.
3. That is weird, Lains steady hands make me nervous.

There is no way a ruler wasn't involved in that sketch!
