Love is a Mix Tape and Other Wren’s Nest Opinions
Oh hey guys. You’re still here. Phew.
I took a few days to see people other than Lain, and mother nature reacted to my absence by throwing a tornado. Crazy! She’s a fickle mistress, I tell you what.
One of the highlights of my wee vacation was sitting in non-dangerous winds, enjoying the scenery, and reading a good book.

(The scenery, next to the original Washington Monument in Baltimore.)
Actually, no, I take that back. I was reading a great book. What book, you ask? Why, Love is a Mix Tape, by Rob Sheffield.
Sure, it was on most of the ‘Best of 2007′ reading lists, so me saying I enjoyed it is really not newsworthy. However, it IS an opportunity to show off this picture!
That’s us! With Rob Sheffield! At Wordsmiths! Look how cool (/awkward) we are! Booyah!
The point is, I totally recommend this book, as well as taking a few days off from work and skipping town when a tornado is going to hit the city you live in.
Sometimes Lain and I think you might care about other things we like, and that perhaps we should start recommending books, Atlanta tourist destinations, restaurants, etc. on here. What do you think? Do you care? Or should we just stick to what we know, aka making fun of each other?
The comments section is just aching for your attention.

Your eyes are almost, almost open in this one, Amelia.
Thanks for the book tip…as soon as i finish eat pray love I think I’ll start this one!
We are interested! I think you should do book, music, movie and food reviews – I would certainly read them – and perhaps even follow your recommendations – ALTHOUGH – I don’t want this effort to get in the way of the more important “making fun of each other.” You should also make fun of the rest of us – though I’d like you to start with Marshall or Handy – certainly not me!
How old is Rob Sheffield? He looks a lot more hardcore in his wikipedia picture.
In this particular photo, Lain, your eyes aren’t all that wide open either!
You aren’t kidding, Joe.
I don’t know how old he is, but man is he tall and skinny.
Laurie, that is entirely true; however, I do not have a prior record and do not go like, “Wait wait wait, my eyes were closed” all the time.
Sometimes I ask myself, is the time I spent reading blogs time wasted? Then I find links such as the one to Sheffield’s wikipedia entry, which feature absolute gems:
“A native of Boston, Sheffield attended Yale and the University of Virginia, and is six foot five.”
A veritable who, what, where, & how (tall). That’s what I call an efficient sentence.
We would love to hear your recommendations. Greg says it keeps us in touch with the youmger generation .
Actually we enjoy anything you have to say and I thinkyou should write a book. ‘How I Brought a house Museum back from the Brink’
I’ll ghostwrite/mock.
Thanks for the support, Mom.
Lain, you totally have a prior record; you just don’t care how the pictures turn out. Also, your eyes need to cover more ground to squint, whereas mine need only be “not closed”. Does that make you the more squinty of the two of us? Sources say yes.
Keep the opinions coming. And the mockery, too.
